Tree Injection Units

The HANSON TREE INJECTION HEAD was designed with both the tree and the arborist in mind. The 7/32" Self-Positioning Tip, Angle of Taper, and Holes in Side of Taper allow for the formation of a reservoir within the newest sapwood or xylum of the tree. This reservoir assures faster and more complete uptake of your solution, carrying the solution throughout the tree's crown. Because the injector head requires only a 7/32" hole drilled (not more than 1½ inches deep), tissue damage to the tree at each injection site is kept to a minimum. The Two Piece Construction of different materials overcomes excessive breakage rates from the wear and tear an injector head must be able to stand up to during the injection process. In our research, we found that injectors made of a harder and more rigid material were easier to seat, offered the firmest seat available, and did not collapse from the pressure of the tree surrounding the sides of its tip. However, injectors made of harder plastics, particularly since the walls of the injector must be thin, were more susceptible to breakage when receiving contact pressure from tapping it into the tree. With this in mind, the HANSON TREE INJECTION HEAD was designed using an extremely rigid material for the tip (which seats easily and firmly), and a softer and more flexible material for the insert tee (where direct contact pressure occurs from tapping with a rubber mallet). Thus, this two piece construction gives you an injector head, which will seat easily and firmly without excessive force, and at the same time, offers protection from breakage at points where pressure is applied. The overall Measurements of the Hanson Tree Injection Head make them extremely easy to handle and work with. They measure 2½ inches long and when seated in the tree allow for approximately 1½ inches of tee base left outside of the tree to work with. Tubing connection points on the injector heads are ¼" tee barbs, which assure a tight seal without leakage.

The end result of all of these points used in the creation of the HANSON TREE INJECTION HEAD, is an injector which:

  • REDUCES TISSUE DAMAGE TO TREE AT INJECTION SITES.
  • ASSURES THOROUGH DISTRIBUTION OF SOLUTION BEING INJECTED THROUGHOUT THE TREE'S CROWN
  • WILL SEAT FIRMLY AND EASILY WITHOUT REQUIRING EXCESSIVE FORCE.
  • WILL HAVE A LONGER LIFE SPAN AND REDUCE ARBORIST'S RATE OF BREAKAGE.
  • BECAUSE OF THEIR SIZE, ARE EASY TO HANDLE AND WORK WITH.

We recommend a closed harness system be used
when injecting with Hanson Tree Injection Heads.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Hanson Tree Injection Heads will give trouble free service with a minimal amount of maintenance and care. If water being used to dilute the solution being injected into the tree is unsuitable because of hardness, modify with a softening agent, which won't harm the tree or use distilled or deionized water. This will help prevent a precipitant build up from forming and over time, possibly blocking chemical flow through the injector head. When tapping injector heads into the tree, USE ONLY A RUBBER MALLET. The rubber acts as a buffer between the driving force and the tee base. A hammer or mallet made of anything other than rubber may cause damage to the injector head and to the tree itself. USE CAUTION NOT TO HIT THE TEE TIP WITH ANY HARD OBJECT. Because the material of the tip is hard and rigid, such action may result in cracking the tip, making the injector unusable. Disinfect injector heads (and drill bit) after each tree injected using a bleach solution - one part bleach to nine parts water. This will add to the life of your injector heads and is essential in reducing the possibility of transmitting disease organisms from tree to tree. By following these simple guidelines and precautions, we believe that you will find HANSON TREE INJECTION HEADS will offer years of service and will be a key factor in the overall success of your tree treating programs.
